Evergreen: The Board Game 1.2

Evergreen is a tree-growing abstract strategy game that invites players to cultivate a vibrant ecosystem. The primary objective is to develop a lush environment by planting seeds, nurturing trees, and incorporating various natural elements to create the most fertile planet possible. Players can engage in solo play or compete in multiplayer matches.

How to Play

1. Select a Biome card from a shared pool to define the area of your planet that you will enhance each round.
2. Promote growth by cultivating trees, planting bushes, and positioning lakes to form a sprawling forest, utilizing nature’s power for additional actions.
3. Focus on concentrating your trees in the most fertile areas, ensuring they collect light without overshadowing one another to maximize your scoring potential.

During each round, players choose a Biome card that dictates development for a specific biome and activates its power for additional tree growth. Interestingly, the biomes that are not selected also play a crucial role; those that are less chosen become more fertile and, consequently, more valuable.

Strategic placement of trees is vital; keeping them close maximizes points for your largest forest while ensuring they gather ample light without obstructing each other, highlighting the importance of sunlight positioning.

Expansions

The Pines and Cacti expansions introduce new flora that interact uniquely with light and shadow, encouraging players to explore innovative forest-planning strategies to optimize their scoring.

Each modular expansion brings in a new power. It is essential to maintain six powers in play; thus, when integrating a new power, another must be removed. Players have the flexibility to use multiple expansion modules simultaneously if desired.

Modes

Engage in solo play against AI opponents or challenge yourself in local (pass and play) or online multiplayer formats to compete against players globally. The online leaderboard facilitates cross-platform interaction.
